Happy 4th of July America!

I can't believe we are half way thought he year!  It is getting so beautiful out at night, the sounds of summer are some of the most extraordinary sounds one can hear. . .  If the dog next door would just stop barking!  But alas, the activities are coming at us in break neck speed.  We have so much going on to keep you posted, so please check the newsletter.  Our Farmer's Market Vouchers are available.  Please come to one of our participating Senior Centers or the office ( on Tuesdays and Thursdays) before we run out of them.  Some of our sister counties are starting to run out!

The "Relay for Life" was held at both school districts on May 31st.  Our Delaware Valley Team "The Oldies But Goodies" did a great job.  Thanks to all who contributed. A Special thank you to our Captains: Barbara Leary and Donna Miller.  Great job Guys. . . a lot of work, a lot of work!  Remember: Many Cancers are treatable if detected early enough.  The American Cancer Society urges everyone to get the screenings by their physicians.

We wrapped up our Pocono Arts Programs for this year with the final show of " Trouble at the Tropicabana" in Bushkill.   Each performance got rave reviews.  We would like to thank the Lakeside Players for the professional talented troupe and hilarious performance.  For more information on the Players you can call 226-6207.

The Bushkill Picnic is behind us and the Promised Land Picnic is coming up soon.  What a wonderful time of year.

New days of operation and transportation schedule bring controversy.

Starting in June, the Lackawaxen Senior Center changed the days of operation FROM: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, TO: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  This was and unexpected change for some and is coming with some hesitance.  But, each cloud has a silver lining.  We will now be able to provide transportation on Thursdays!  We have an assigned driver for Thursday pick-ups, shopping, and drop-offs.  We will be going to Honesdale, Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Home Depot in the beginning of the month and regular grocery shopping each subsequent Thursday -- After Lunch.  So call Donna if you are not registered with our Shared Ride or People with Disabilities Program.  WE are here for YOU, so we want to make the services work.  Thank you for your patience.

GOD BLESS AMERICAN !
